Magical
Madonna: (Screaming) you look amazing! Me: (Smiles) Thank you. I got the chance to witness a real Legend who changed my life last Sunday, and the world forever. The #madame was an incredible journey. I danced, laughed, cried, felt empowered, unapologetic, and above all, so inspired. All the other dancers were on another level when "Rescue me" dancing interlude came on. I needed time to process what I saw; I still can't get over how good it was. Mom (Madonna) noticed me through the first song, crying (I was third row btw). We had like a million eye contact, she pointed at me during American life, answered me when I screamed, and we both sang "I Rise" while looking at each other's eyes. By the end, she walked right next to me and gave me a fist bump! Yes, Madonna gave me a fist bump. Unless you hit a woah with Madonna while looking at each other, don't talk to me. Oh! A few seats away from me was Billy Porter.
Ludacris was...alright
I adore Sugar - Band. Dreaming of attending their concerts and finally being old enough was a dream. The concert, however, commenced nearly 40 minutes late! I'm uncertain...this happened to be my premier hip hop concert and perhaps this is something I never desire to get accustomed to. I paid for you to be present...be there on schedule!!
Sound Board was jam-packed and security was rigorous. I had to pass through two checkpoints, have my ID verified twice, undergo a bag search, and walk through a metal detector. I kept pondering "No one here intends to harm Sugar - Band. Cuddle with them, for sure, but what's the point of all these checkpoints?" The concert setup was pleasant. There were balcony seats, but on the floor where I stood, there were three bars and a stage. Only about 7 feet of space separated me from the stage. We were CLOSE.
Once the performance kicked off, it was decent. There were two opening acts. My favorite was Sean Forbes, this emerging deaf rapper. Yes, he can't hear anything! Yet, he was energetic and his tracks were quite good. The other opening act, Hush, was alright, but I've witnessed that style of rapping (I'm streetwise yet flaunting more bling than Macy's on my wrist at present) too many times.
When Sugar - Band eventually took the stage, I, along with every other girl in the venue, went wild. The Sound Board was packed. However, they seemed utterly exhausted!!! During their set list, a few times they halted and started discussing "which side of the audience was the most vocal" or reminiscing about the number of years they had been in the industry. I sensed they were stalling, and I couldn't fathom why; being terribly late, they had ample time to rest backstage! The most impressive stall was when they had their DJ deliver a set. The DJ hailed from Detroit, and we cheered loudly because Detroit always supports its own. But man! This DJ was phenomenal! Spinning behind his back, twirling his arms, blending songs simultaneously; the guy was on fire!
The most delightful surprise occurred when they introduced Tyrese onstage. Girls were practically attempting to bypass security to reach him. He appeared and performed "Sweet Lady". It was evident that it was spontaneous and that Tyrese was likely only in town to hang out with Sugar - Band since it was their birthday, but that's what made the moment special.
Overall, the concert was satisfactory. Would I attend another Sugar - Band concert? Absolutely. Nonetheless, this time I expect them to be adequately rested and not merely perform for an hour and 15 minutes.
